A TWO PART RIVERSTONE ESTATE WEDDING TWO WEEKS APART

If you're planning a wedding, you may have noticed that there's a shit load of photographers to choose from.  You'd be right.  And photography is completely subjective, so that means you will like a certain style and not others.  And trust me there is something out there for everyone.  But it shouldn't just be their style you're looking for.  Read on, and then maybe you'll be able to tell me what else you should be looking for.....

My mate Briggsy photographed this wedding - and to begin with it might look like any other wedding, but the difference is that this one is in two parts.

With many weddings - not everything goes according to plan.  It might be something small - like the timings end up being a bit off, or something medium - like having red wine spilt down the back of your wedding dress (that actually happened to me!)  But unfortunately for Anita & Mark, it was a little bit more.  Briggsy tells their story...

'Mark woke up on the day of his wedding extremely unwell with a bad case of gastro, food poisoning or something similar.  The loss of fluid his body suffered throughout the day left him extremely fatigued and dehydrated and the poor guy actually ended up having to visit Healesville hospital during his wedding reception. His sickness meant he only just managed to get through their ceremony and very limited periods of time during their reception. Amongst many things that occurred on the day, this meant we didn't get any opportunity to have a portrait session with the couple. Mark also missed any opportunity to enjoy any of the beautiful wedding food from the menu that he meticulously planned together with the venue & head chef.

And as always in life, this couldn't have happened to two nicer people'

However, the silver lining of their story is this...

Two weeks later, Briggsy headed back to The Riverstone Estate, where the wedding was held.  The couple got back into their dress and suit as the amazing staff and owners of Riverstone recreated Mark and Anita's wedding menu for them and 10 of their friends.    Briggsy was also joined by Tim, the video guy, and the florist and they all returned together to help give Mark and Anita the night they had dreamed of.  All the suppliers did this off their own backs and even Mother Nature was on board and supplied the most perfect of sunsets.

So choosing your photographer should be about them as a person as well.  Meet them.  Talk with them - old skool - face to face or on the actual phone.  See if you feel at ease with them.  Go with your gut instincts - not their price tag.  There are a lot of good people out there - just like Briggsy, Tim, Florist and of course Riverstone.
